WHO ARE WE?
Welcome to Platt Fields Bike Hub – Not just another bikeshop, but a space designed to host community focused bicycle projects. We are a not-for-profit group working to improve cycling in Manchester.
Our physical hub lies in the old Boathouse by the lake in Platt Fields where we warmly welcome people from the surrounding area as well as those from all across the city and further afield.
We host a plethora of interesting and unusual bicycle related courses and activities. From repairs & servicing, selling reconditioned bikes, providing meeting spaces, tuition and the like to building non-mainstream bike products and unusual bikes, we incorporate it all.
WHAT WE’RE AFTER
As many different bikes and bicycle riders cycling around the city as possible.
We want Manchester to remain a unique model for improving provisions and infrastructure for cyclists across the spectrum. By welcoming smaller, inventive groups and individuals into The Hub to overlap their approaches and strengthen each other’s objectives our project helps to add to the broad bike scene that is already happening in the city.
The Hub is always evolving – we welcome new ideas and groups who would like to deliver their services and activities from the space. Get in touch!
We don’t buy secondhand bikes for stock, instead we rely on donated bikes and parts. If you have anything cycling related and you don’t want it anymore, give it to us and we’ll do our best to keep it out of landfill. We’ll take bikes, parts, tools and accessories of any age or condition for refurbishment or re-purposing. Email, call or contact us through Facebook & twitter if you need a hand shifting anything, we can collect citywide.
